AusCheck – Visualising Complex Information for AusCheck Operational Plan
In 2023, Infografia faced the challenge of transforming complex information into clear and engaging formats as part of the International Border Reform Project, focusing specifically on AusCheck’s operations. The primary aim was to create an accessible online document that effectively communicated AusCheck’s mission: to collaborate with partners in mitigating trusted insider security risks across Australia’s critical infrastructure and significant national events.
Stakeholders were finding it difficult to navigate an overly text-heavy document that lacked clarity and engagement. The challenge was to convey intricate processes in a way that was not only insightful but also user-friendly.
To tackle these issues, Infografia developed captivating infographics that simplified complex processes into straightforward visual representations. By adhering to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), we ensured that the document was not only visually appealing but also accessible. Our design incorporated optimal colour contrasts, precise tagging, and legible fonts. This commitment to accessibility was extended to a print version for external stakeholders, ensuring it met broad usability standards.
We utilised distinctive isometric pathway graphics to illustrate the relationships and connections among various operations. This approach simplified complex information using intuitive icons and characters, allowing for immediate recognition and understanding by users. The visual elements were designed to resonate with the audience, making the information both engaging and memorable.
Impact on Learning Processes
Following the success of the pathway infographic, we adapted this design style for online learning processes within AusCheck. This adaptation created a more engaging user experience for stakeholders, significantly enhancing the effectiveness of the conveyed information.
